Pineapple Express is a Los Angeles-based cannabis retail company with one store located on Hollywood and Vine in Hollywood with plans to open 6 more stores in Los Angeles between now and the end of this year. We are looking for a strategic leader to fill the role of Fractional CFO and Tax Director. This position requires expertise in financial management, tax strategy, and leadership to support the growth and compliance of our organization.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes to support strategic decision-making and business growth.
- Develop and implement financial strategies to optimize cash flow, profitability, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee financial reporting and analysis, including monthly P&Ls, Operations Analysis, and Financial Projections for Senior Executives.
- Provide tax planning and strategy to minimize tax liabilities, optimize financial performance, and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Manage Finance team & responsibilities, including one bookkeeper and coordination with company auditor for annual audits for two public companies.
- Establish and document accounting processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and legal requirements.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and other accounts, and ensure proper documentation and approval of transactions.
- Prepare and file sales tax, business tax, and annual 1099’s to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Collaborate with internal functions such as sales, marketing, and operations to support financial and tax-related duties.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with proficiency in GAAP standards and tax regulations.
- Experience with financial software such as Quickbooks or comparable systems.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work part-time in West Los Angeles.
