Building Management Specialist

**Duties**:
You will:
- Oversee and direct the building management program to ensure that space and building service needs are being met.
- Provide advice and support on various building management services to promote effective and efficient operations.
- Provide advice and support regarding building and facility safety.
- Evaluate and assess building management program operations and recommend solutions to program issues.
- Coordinate sustainability related programs, including but not limited to recycling, HAZMAT reduction, alternative transportation, and energy and water conservation.

**Qualifications**:
NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-11 level, you must have one of the following:
- 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level defined as assisting in the management of real property assets; and assisting with facility and/or building services such as space management, event planning, grounds maintenance, utilities, and/or office supply services.
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related; the education must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
- equivalent combination of education and experience
To qualify for the GS-12 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level defined as maintaining and managing real property assets; administering facility and/or building services such as space management, event planning, grounds maintenance, utilities, and/or office supply services; and managing projects related to improving operational efficiency and/or lowering operational costs.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of building management principles, practices, and procedures.
- Skill in project management.
- Ability to formulate and execute budgets.
- Knowledge of property management and related safety issues.
- Skill in contract management.
- Knowledge of environmental and regulatory requirements related to building management.
- Skill in oral communication.
- Skill in written communication.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
