**JOB SUMMARY**
Investigate reports of cases or clusters of reportable infectious diseases for the Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Section (IDES) in compliance with Public Health Services Department (PHSD) and Federal and state disease protection and response requirements under basic supervision.
**Example of Duties**:

**TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES**:
- Investigate and report on assigned communicable diseases, collect samples and other supportive diagnostic test results, and maintain patient case files.
- Assure that infected persons are evaluated by a medical professional and confirm treatment protocols meet applicable state and federal guidelines, oversee patient's case management throughout the treatment process, and assure completion of treatment.
- Review patient charts and laboratory test results, identify and classify reports of disease, and interview cases and exposed contacts.
- Counsel, educate, and interview patients on disease management and provide referrals for additional services as needed.
- As assigned, maintain records of all infectious disease cases, including treatment, investigations, contacts and suspects.
- Identify communicable disease clusters and trends and recommend responses to resolve public health emergencies and potential outbreaks.
