Under general supervision, the student assistant will be responsible for providing a full range of front counter, customer service support and administrative duties such as: greeting walk-in customers, answering phone calls, filing, copying, scanning, data entry and department mail.

**Conditions of Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

UEI does not allow students to hold more than one UEI job at a time, or work in more than one account per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for different UEI student assistant posting should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a weeks' notice.

**Prerequisites
Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (fall, spring and winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list.

Students must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.

Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting.

**Additional Work Schedule
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).

- Must possess the ability and enthusiasm to work with the public and greet customers in a positive, professional manner both in person and over the phone.

**Responsibilities**:
- Perform general clerical duties.
- Front counter/reception: this position will be a first point of contact for our walk-in customers and callers. Greets office visitors and provides them with a variety of information about UEI Human Resources programs, policies and procedures, answers questions and direct visitors to the appropriate department or individual.
- Perform verbal and written employment verification.
- With training, this position will assist with ensuring the online new hire, onboarding forms are completed timely, maintain student employee files and assist with the auditing, maintenance and follow-up of I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification form.
- This position will receive training on how to interpret and explain Federal and State laws related to employment and labor to student new hires.
- Compose a variety of letters, reports and documents.
- Assist with the distribution and delivery of department mail.
- Assist with recruitment outreach by targeting schools throughout California for positions located out of Sacramento.
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service by welcoming and assisting visitors in the HR Office.
- Answer phones, direct calls, and take accurate phone messages.
- Organize information and file a large volume of documents.
