**General Responsibilities**:
Staff Scientist to work in our Houston, Texas office under the direction of Environmental Site

Investigations Group Manager. This is a full-time position with benefits.

**Essential Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- May assist more senior staff on large, more complex projects.
- Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.
- Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
- Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for approval by senior level professionals.
- Evaluates moderately complex laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports.
- May serve as team member or participate in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
- Over time, this position will come with opportunities to manage projects according to Terracon’s Project Manager standards and expectations.

**Preferred**:

- Working knowledge of Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP) rules and regulations.
- Worked on environmental site investigations at sites with chlorinated or petroleum-based dry cleaner solvents, DNAPL, or other similar types of contamination or similarly complex projects.
- 40 Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Trained.

**Required**
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science.
- A minimum of three years of previous environmental site investigations experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely using both written and verbal skills.
- Ability to multi-task within flexible/fluid schedules and project needs.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and walking on uneven surfaces carrying at least 20 lbs. of equipment, and ability to work in extreme (hot/cold) weather conditions.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to travel for overnight (including multiple days away) work assignments.
- Ability to pass drug screening.
- Possession of a U.S. driver’s license, with acceptable violation history.
