About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Scientist to join our team at Serco North America. As an Environmental Scientist, you will play a critical role in supporting the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in their mission to protect the environment and public health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport a 20-ft. trailer to remote ambient air monitoring stations across the five-state region (Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana)
  • Perform site visits to set up instrumentation for the collection of samples and analytical data
  • Complete reports documenting audits performed and program status
  • Maintain recordkeeping, including electronic and hardcopy logs
  • Perform internal quality assurance, including sampler collocations and line loss tests
  • Maintain and repair instrumentation, order parts, and coordinate with vendors
  • Coordinate site visits with State, Local, and Tribal site operators
  • Collaborate with ESAT work team members, EPA sponsor, and a national network of colleagues to facilitate continuous improvement of the quality program
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a closely related field
  • Ability to travel and drive long distances
  • Ability to work independently in remote locations
  • Ability to pull 20-ft. trailer (including backing of trailer)
  • Ability to routinely lift bulky items of up to 50-lb
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms
  • Ability to perform precise measurements and operate analytical instrumentation
  • Good mathematics skills
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
