**ABOUT US**
- The City of Houston Department of Neighborhoods (DON) is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Houston neighborhoods through the delivery of services, innovative programs and strong community partnerships. The department delivers a wide range of services and serves as a centralized source for citizen assistance to resolve neighborhood concerns.

**DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
- The Community Liaison (CL) should possess a high degree of initiative, excellent attention to detail, well-developed critical thinking skills, personable and excellent communication and writing skills. The CL should be a creative problem solver who is highly organized, self-motivated, and able to provide accurate information in a fast-paced environment.

**The Community Liaison Duties would include but are not limited to**:

- ** **Accurately responds to constituent concerns and questions.
- Attends and presents up-to-date information at Super Neighborhood and community meetings.
- Work independently to manage the needs of their assigned area(s).
- Maintain an accurate log of their day-to-day workload.
- Network and maintain relationships with city and other social service organizations.
- Performs other duties as delegated by the Deputy Assistant Director, including handling issues and information of a highly sensitive nature.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the MAO Division Manager or their designee.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- The position is physically comfortable; Requires stooping or bending. Occasional lifting, such as three or four reams of paper or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight
- may be required.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:
**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration or a related field.

**EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
- Two years of experience in community organizational work, resource and referral services, or a closely related field are required. Professional experience related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

**LICENSE REQUIREMENTS**
- None

**PREFERENCES**:
Preference will be given to applicants with excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong PC (Windows, Microsoft Office/Outlook) skills. Extensive community relations experience and knowledge of city services and civic engagement processes are preferred.
