- One year of supervisory experience-
- High School Diploma or GED- OR- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications - Completion of 30 semester or 45 quarter units in Animal Health, Animal Science, Zoology, or related animal sciences may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience- We Also Value- Completion of a two-year curriculum in an accredited veterinary technology program that is certified by the Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board-
- Supervisory or lead experience in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter setting- Job Contributions- Prioritizes the growth and development of staff, including initial training of new staff and recurring training for all staff as procedures are updated and developed-
- Demonstrates advanced proficiency in all technician duties and ensures staff competently complete all tasks as scheduled and according to protocol-
- Conducts supervisory duties including recruiting, scheduling, performance management, feedback, managing complaints, and administering disciplinary action when necessary-
- Provides courteous, prompt, high-quality customer service to members of the public, including responding to citizen complaints and concerns-
- Monitors safety practices and sanitary conditions. Ensures safety procedures are in place and standards of cleanliness are maintained and observed in accordance with Federal, State, and County regulations or policies-
- Cultivates positive client, volunteer, and staff relations through professional, courteous, and educational interactions while actively promoting the department’s mission, services, programs, and events-
- Maintains detailed and accurate medical and surgical records, controlled substance logbooks, and clinic reports-
- Schedules surgeries and rechecks in cooperation with clinic veterinarians and other supervisory staff-
- Organizes daily clinic functions to ensure efficient surgical flow-
- Manages accurate inventory and appropriate storage of supplies, including controlled substances, to ensure proper medical care- Working Conditions- Work will occur in an office and field environment predominantly in an animal shelter with exposure to extreme and varying temperatures, dogs and cats with unknown temperament and behaviors, excessive noises, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, fumes, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation, animal waste and fluids, deceased animals, cleaning chemicals, and zoonotic diseases-
