**Whom We Seek**

Hispanic Federation seeks a Connecticut State Director oversees all programmatic operations and manage policy priorities in Connecticut and once established, expand programming to other New England States. The Director will also move forward legislative and advocacy platforms in support of the Federation’s overall agenda, working collaboratively with policy and programmatic department team from Hispanic Federation Headquarters.

The position is a hybrid role with 50% of time, a minimum 10 days a month in the Hispanic Federation located in Hartford, CT.

**Responsibilities**:
Membership/Capacity Building
- Sets strategic priorities for membership growth and capacity building in Connecticut, the director will support adjacent states in New England once Connecticut programs are established.
- Serves as the liaison between Connecticut network members and partners and the Headquarter in NYC; identify specific capacity building and technical assistance needs for members in the region.
- Collaborates with other state and regional directors and other key internal departments to enhance and strengthen capacity building and membership services.

Programs and Policy
- Sets strategic priorities for programming and policy objectives in the region, provides feedback as it relates to the region for national policy and advocacy priorities.
- Developing and implementing programs in Connecticut with our network organizations and partners, convene network members periodically to ensure collaboration.
- Monitoring deliverables and ensuring successful outcomes of funded programs.
- Represents HF in any public advocacy initiative and approves policy positions in accordance with general HF policy and advocacy guidelines and priorities, as appropriate.
- Provides quarterly reports to Leadership Team and Board of Directors on all programs and policy initiatives.

Development
- Works directly with HF development department, sets fundraising goals and executes plan for Connecticut.
- Provides on grant deliverables and oversees budgets creation for grants allocated for the region.
- Prospects funding opportunities and works with development department to assess viability.
- Cultivates and grows local and regional funders and sponsors.
- Ensures grant deadlines and reporting are submitted on time.

Staff Management
- Sets staffing priorities for the region in collaboration with Human Resources and Leadership Team.
- Supervises regional staff and creates a positive and collaborative working culture inclusive of programs across HF Offices.
- Ensures compliance with all administrative duties related to staff within the region.

Finance and Administration
- Sets and manages office and program budgets and ensures administrative policies are followed as issued across HF office spaces.
- Serve as the point of contact for questions around office lease and office administration.

**Qualifications**:

- Seven (7) years of professional experience and expertise in program oversight, policy advocacy, capacity building, and staff management duties including demonstrated career progression with increasing roles of responsibility.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in public administration, law, public policy, sociology or social work is strongly preferred.
- High-level, strategic understanding of social change and progressive movements backed by direct experience with culturally competent grassroots efforts.
- Excellent communicator and writer in English and Spanish, with public speaking and policy and fundraising writing experience, who can articulate complex issues into persuadable messages to different audiences including, but not limited to, government officials, media, community leaders, policy experts, nonprofit managers, funders, and the Latino community.
- A strong facilitator with experience in conducting trainings, managing diverse coalitions, and organizing events.
- Relationships with government, community and business leaders in Connecticut, a plus.
- Capacity to work independently and keep organized in a fast-paced environment, manage several projects simultaneously, and adjust strategy to frequently changing demands.
- Ability to implement vision, think strategically, creatively problem solve, exercise good judgment.
- Able to share leadership roles, build consensus and, as necessary, take initiative and make decisions.
