Surgery Scheduling Coordinator

Desert Institute for Spine Care (DISC) is looking for an experienced surgery scheduler to join our busy and team oriented surgical practice. Highly reliable and organized, this position will be responsible for working with patients, provider offices, and facilities coordinating orthopedic spine surgeries at various surgical centers and hospitals in the Valley.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Schedules, coordinates, and reschedules surgeries
- Communicates necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians
- Verifies necessary information and records information in patient's medical record
- Obtains benefit information, prior authorization and collects surgical pre-payments
- Coordinates necessary equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia relative to surgeries
- Maintains and updates physician's calendars
- Answers questions regarding patient's upcoming surgeries
- Updates patient information
- Prepares surgical packet materials
- Assists in training and orienting of new staff
- All other duties assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Understand/Perform training on practice management software
- Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures

**Minimum Qualifications**
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 1-year experience of medical scheduling

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Minimum 2+ years experience scheduling multiple providers at multiple facilities
- Microsoft Office Suite & Adobe Acrobat - Intermediate to Expert
- Database & document management skills
- Outlook proficiency
- NextGen experience a bonus.
