Administrative and Events Coordinator

Job Description:
The Administrative and Events Coordinator provides a full range of confidential administrative support for the department. Faculty Actions require the processing of non-regular faculty appointment requests for the department, monitoring documents required for faculty appointment and related actions, must develop a strong understanding of appointment criteria, and are responsible for tracking timelines and information to coordinate the workflow required for review and approval. This position supports department events and lectures, including those online and in person by working collaboratively with faculty hosts, outside vendors, and University departments to oversee the setup of conferences and to execute conference programming material. The incumbent serves as a critical point of contact for the office, proactively coordinating incoming communications and must possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a university setting, preferred.
- Experience organizing and managing large complex events.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to initiate, collaborate, implement, monitor, evaluate and advance strategic plans that support the activities of the program and contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the Economics Department.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Should have a high degree of computer literacy and management information skills.
- Demonstrated ability with computer software programs including but not limited to Google suite, Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project/time management skills essential.
- Must be detail-oriented and have an ability to handle and complete projects concurrently.
- Must be able and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Familiarity with updating website content, preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
