**Join Our Team: Medical Receptionist at San Diego Digestive Disease Consultants**

**Position**:Medical Receptionist

**Location**:San Diego, CA. On-site

**Hourly Range**:$20 - $22/hour, based on experience

**Schedule**:Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

**Required Qualifications**:

- Proficiency in EHR systems and medical software
- Excellent communication, bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Medical Assistant Program certification and AHS BLS certification

**Preferred Experience**:

- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance verification
- At least 2 years in customer service and medical front desk roles
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential

**Key Responsibilities**
- Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety.
- Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information.
- Handles requests from third-party referral sources and provides relevant information and data.
- Assemble information concerning the patient’s clinical background and referral needs. Per referral guidelines, provide appropriate clinical information to referring physician.
- Ensure prior approval requirements are met, including insurance eligibility and authorization.
- Review details and expectations about the referral with patients.
- Ensure that referrals are addressed in a timely manner.
- Ensure the patient’s chart is up to date with information on physician notes, consults, hospitalizations, ER visits, and test results.
- Checks all pages in the record to verify correct patient information.
- Interprets and implements policies relating to the disclosure of confidential patient medical information.
- Analyzes and answers correspondence requests in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements/statutes.
- Reviews, and completes fax inboxes in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates a courteous, respectful, and helpful attitude when working with patients.
- Reviews and completes EHR tasks as assigned.
- Follow employee and nursing policy/procedure manuals and adhere to HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
- Documents patient transactions, phone conversations, observations, and orders in medical records according to the clinic’s policies and procedures.
- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain positive employee relations.
