The Director provides overall leadership for the EMS department including staff supervision, budgeting, policy development and interpretation, planning, and operations.
**Required Knowledge & Skills**
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Five years of related experience. Requires broad knowledge of complex systems and procedures.

**Supervision**
Manages a system of approximately 70 employees at multiple locations throughout Carroll County. Establish and maintains departmental costs, processes and personnel. Provides support for management of the organization.
**Qualifications**
Broad-gauge knowledge of the production and utilization strategies for the EMS and non:
- emergency ambulance industry.
Understanding of human relationships and behavioral concepts. Demonstrated skill in assessing personnel and developing subordinates.
Ability to communicate with peers in the public safety and allied health services sectors. Ability to communicate with members of local and state government entities.
Understanding of the concepts of information technology, their use and limitations, as well as an ability to evaluate new technological advances.

Functions
Area of Responsibilities
Assists VP in directing, overseeing, developing, and clearly communicating the goals and values of EMS with clear emphasis on customer satisfaction, response times and quality patient care
Directs the day-to-day activities of all field operations and the assigned supporting elements. This includes timely response, appropriate patient care and adherence to the system status plan
Responsible for developing long and short-range goals and objectives for the members of the department. Motivates them to ensure their activities contribute to the success of the company
Provides individual guidance and direction to subordinate managers and supervisors in operational and support procedures including employee counseling and disciplinary procedures
Participates in the establishment of crew work schedules and shift types. Participates in the development of employee hiring and orientation procedures
Oversees the liaison between the field operations staff and other departments regarding trip reports, equipment requirements, driving procedures and the presentation of a professional organization
Establishes positive concepts of teamwork among subordinates. motivates and develops key staff members for growth and broadened responsibilities
Review supervisory activity reports, incident reports, supervisory investigations and service performance inquiries. Participates in the review of field supervisors and field personnel
Evaluates, coaches, and counsels appropriate management staff regarding leadership and other areas of job performance. Provides periodic performance reviews for operations and material managers. Reviews periodic performance review of field supervisors and field personnel
Develops and administers company Standard Operating Procedures
Develops and administers Disaster Plan and coordinates with other safety agencies
Develops a departmental budget and is responsible for operating the department within these financial guidelines
Performs all of the above functions in accordance with operational and financial plans and goals pertaining to cost effectiveness and efficient management
Compliance Statement
Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.
