Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, this position is responsible for carrying out, both directly and through staff, the day-to-day accounting functions, including MainePERS’ employee payroll functions of the Maine Public Employees Retirement System. Work includes maintaining fund accounting records, preparing and analyzing financial statements and reports, and assuring the effectiveness of accounting operations as well as facilitating the implementation of internal control procedures and policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business or related field.
- 5+ years solid accounting experience utilizing automated accounting system.
- Prior supervisory or team leader experience with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with Great Plains/Microsoft Dynamics software.
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
