- Assist in recruiting staff reporters and freelance writers for the politics team.
- Conceive and execute on time-sensitive items as well as longer-form projects, all with an eye towards bringing home high-interest exclusive stories.
- Continue to develop contacts and sources that will lead to exclusive stories and interviews.
- Work closely with The Beast's top editors in New York City and its teams around the world.

**Qualifications**
- A deep passion for politics and a broad source base of newsmakers and insiders.
- A sharp news sense, the ability to think outside the box, imagination and the confidence to differentiate Beast coverage from the pack.
- A track record of editing in a fast-paced, highly competitive news environment.
- Sterling writing and editing skills and willingness to represent stories and The Daily Beast on TV
- Experience managing and motivating younger reporters.
- An understanding of pressing topics for diverse cultures, communities, and racial and ethnic identities.
- Ability to work late-nights and weekends as events and schedules demand.
- Based in Washington.

**Pay Range Salary**:
The pay range for this position is $175,000 to $200,000 annually.

The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, performance and other factors. The range listed is just one component of The Daily Beast's total compensation package. The Daily Beast provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, 401K employer matching program, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
