The Cambridge Public Health Department is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and strategic public health professional to oversee the planning, development, and implementation of health equity initiatives and best practices, with the goal of embedding strategies and considerations into everyday operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Equity, Resilience, and Preparedness, the Health Equity specialist will be responsible for understanding, promoting, and integrating health equity policies and strategies into all facets of program development and operation to address structural inequities in the social determinants of health leading to health disparities experienced by individuals and communities across Cambridge.
Our ideal applicant has practical knowledge and experience in the frameworks of health care and public health service delivery while drawing from professional experience, academic frameworks of racial and ethnic disparities in health, and familiarity with the socio-cultural issues facing the residents of Cambridge. The expectation is that fair and ethical access to prevention and care resources will lead to health equity and that enhancements in access will also contribute directly to disease prevention and health outcomes and support healthcare cost containment. In this regard, health equity is both a socially and fiscally sound investment. This role is critical and particularly complex given the social dynamics of race, class, disability, and gender in Cambridge.

**Qualifications/Requirements**:
**Education/Training**: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in health or social science field preferred. Life experience will be factored in if applicable.

**Work Experience**:
Experience in community engagement, strategic planning, program development, health promotion, program administration, and grant writing.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and oral presentation.
Demonstrated ability to oversee and manage a diverse staff. Preferred Qualifications:
Proven success in developing and facilitating training and managing logistic responsibilities associated with the various trainings.
General comprehension of data analysis, epidemiology, and the ability to interpret data.

Skilled in project management, with a particular focus on the establishment of quality standards, results tracking, and evaluating outcomes.
Visionary leadership to capitalize on opportunities, identify challenges, and the resources necessary to meet those challenges, particularly in a political environment.
Ability to work well with diverse populations in diverse settings in a manner that builds trust and supports increased collaboration and partnership.
Basic principles of management, including budgeting and cost allocation.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office.
