**Community Education Specialist [Position # 1104]**

For this unique career opportunity in behavioral health prevention and education, DLC is seeking a dynamic and highly organized professional to increase community awareness. This position will support other DLC programs to enhance our Charter as well as local partnerships.

**POSITION DETAILS**:

- Presentations, trainings and community education events both in person and virtually, including Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention and other evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Collecting and reporting quarterly training data and adhering to all grant requirements through funding provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
- Assisting with the scheduling and coordinating of all MHFA and QPR trainings.
- Researching and developing educational presentations to meet community requests under the direction of DLC's Education & Prevention Manager.
- Cross training with the DLC Prevention Services Team to provide additional support in offering educational services to the community.
- Working closely with DLC's Marketing Team to promote trainings and educational opportunities.
- Attending various community coalitions and groups to build partnerships and expand networks.
- Occasionally attend and table community events to showcase DLC services and educational opportunities (weekend and evening hours may be required, time will be flexed to ensure a 40-hour work week is maintained).
- Gaining comprehensive understanding of all DLC programs and referral processes and using that knowledge to

promote, link and source appropriate sources for Clients and community members.

**TO BECOME A MEMBER OF OUR TEAM**:

- Bachelor's Degree in related field (psychology, social work, education, etc.) from accredited institution = Required
- Becoming certified in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) & Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention immediately after start date = Required
- Strong, efficient, and empathetic public speaking skills = Required
- Knowledge of mental health challenges and substance use disorders = Required
- Ability to demonstrate superior stewardship and customer service skills both internally and externally = Required
- Experience working with a variety of age groups = Required
- Comfort with and compassion shown while relating to diverse backgrounds and cultures = Required
- Dual professional personalities in being able to both work as a team player AND be self-motivated = Required
- Previous experience with a non-profit or community behavioral health setting = Strongly Preferred
- Spanish Bilingual = Preferred, But NOT Required
- Valid Florida Driver's License and clean driving record = Required
- Microsoft Office 365/Teams/Video Conferencing/Data Entry = Required
- Previous experience with SPARS (SAMHSA's Performance Accountability and Reporting System) = Preferred, But NOT Required
- Staying compliant on all trainings and immunizations = Required
- Ability to pass a Level II DCF Mental Health Fingerprinting, Drug Screen and Local Criminal Check = Required
