About the School
Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School opened August 2023 and is chartered for grades K-4. As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that focuses on three levels of student achievement: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work. What better way to teach than through experiences with our cultural partners? To name a few we partner with EcoTarium, Worcester Art Museum and Hanover Theater.
School Nurse Qualifications
? Current DESE licensure as a school nurse (preferred but not required).
? Licensure as an RN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
? Current certification for CPR and AED by the American Heart Association as a Health Provider.
? Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
? Passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.
? Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including students, staff, and families across a range of identities.
? Demonstrated trauma-informed, patient centered and culturally competent nursing practices.
? A decisive educator who can make difficult decisions taking into consideration the needs of students and the school community.
? Persistence in the face of obstacles, productive problem-solving to counter setbacks, and takes initiative to seize opportunities to make a change.
? Skilled at reflecting on how to improve, self-awareness of one's strengths and weaknesses, and willingness to take responsibility for actions and mistakes.
School Nurse Responsibilities
**Duties include, but are not limited to the following**:
? Provide health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up.
? Update health files for each student.
? Maintain a log of medication administration, assessments, interventions, and communication with families.
? Maintain health cabinets with all necessary medical supplies including safe handling, storage, and disposal of prescription medications and hazardous wastes
? Follow Individual Health Care Plans and Emergency Action Plans for students with special health needs, and include in section 504 plans or IEPs as applicable;
? Maintain privacy and confidentiality of student's health and medical information per State and Federal Laws.
? Knowledge of medical disorders and treatment; child growth and development; public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies; universal precautions; federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services; district policies, procedures, rules and regulations; FERPA and HIPAA regulations
