San Francisco, United States University of California San Francisco Full time

Our research examines how hormonal signals affect tissue development and function. We are particularly interested in genetic diseases that affect the skeletal system (bone, cartilage, and muscle). We use a combination of human cell models and mouse models to study how genetic changes in hormone signaling affects skeletal formation. Our vibrant translational research program also uses advanced models such as microfluidic “organs on a chip” to assist with disease modeling, as well as human induced pluripotent stem cells, single cell RNA sequencing, and small molecule screening.
- The individual hired will have a number of responsibilities related to these overall goals. These include deriving and maintaining human stem cell cultures, maintaining a small mouse colony, handling and genotyping mice, and assisting with experiments. Techniques used will include the analysis of mouse models, in vitro and in vivo skeletal tissue analysis, cell culture, protein analysis, cloning, PCR analysis, single cell sequencing, and standard molecular biology techniques. The individual will also work closely with other members of our team to assist with human tissue sample collection and processing. In addition, the individual will act as a lab manager, assist with establishing and maintaining the overall function of the laboratory (including stocking supplies, ordering, and arranging for maintenance of equipment). The individual will also assist with grant writing and paper writing.-
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

**Department Description**
- Our mission remains simple: to provide world-class endocrinology care in the clinic and lead the endocrine field in research. For over 50 years, the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at UCSF has been an international leader in both clinical endocrinology and basic endocrine research. Our Endocrinology Clinic and metabolism services include comprehensive consultation and treatment for patients with known or suspected hormonal disorders. ABOUT UCSF The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences, health professions and excellence in patient care.
