**JOB TITLE**:OFFICE ASSISTANT
**STATUS**:Part-time, Up to 29hours/wk, 205 work days
**REPORTS TO**:Office Manager
**PROGRAM**: MIT - Middle School Campus
**Organization Overview**
Vaughn Next Century Learning Center (“Vaughn”), located in Pacoima, is a large urban public school within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Since the early 1970s, low student achievement had been a pattern. In 1993, tired of being helpless and hopeless, Vaughn became the first conversion charter school in the nation and was authorized by LAUSD. The charter was renewed most recently in 2018. Vaughn has over 25 years of experience as a successful independent charter school serving the district’s low-income students. This previously failing elementary public school is now a full-service, community-based, K-12th charter school that assures all students are college/career ready, digitally literate, and globally competent.
**Primary Responsibilities**
- Reports to Office Manager
- General Office duties: Communicate with and help parents, students, teachers and visitors
- Gather data from Student Database Software and input information
- Organizing and managing files, acting as receptionists,
- Supporting other staff with organizational tasks for Administrators
- Schedules tours, if needed
- Processes, sorts, checks for accuracy, and files documents in accordance with established systems
- Helps make copies for Teachers
- Distributes intra-system and general delivery mail; maintains routine office records relating to student records, instructional materials, etc.
- Operates the intercom and provides information through the school’s public address system.
- Participate in all school emergency and safety plans
- Other duties as assigned
**Minimum Qualifications**
- High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Spreadsheets, and Dropbox
- Ability to collaborate with other staff members
**Desirable Skills/Qualifications**
- Bilingual: English/Spanish
- Degree in Business or related field
- Experience working in a clerical position
**Compensation and Benefits**
- $20.00 - $24.00/hr. (Non-Degree Track), $25.00 - $30.00/hr. (Degree Track) (FY 23-24)

**Additional Information**
Upon receiving an offer of employment:
- Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan) with the Department of Justice (DOJ)
- Must provide a Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) clearance within 60 days of employment
- Will be assigned mandated state training to be completed prior to the first day of employment
