**Position Information**

TxDOT's Houston District is looking for a Transportation Engineer Supervisor based in Houston, TX. This position will lead one of the Houston District's Central Design sections, overseeing the design and delivery of Plans, Specifications, and Estimate packages for a variety of transportation projects throughout the Houston District's 6-county area. You will have the opportunity to manage and develop engineers, engineering assistants, and design technicians and to work with various other TxDOT sections as a team to complete transportation projects. **Position Description**

Supervises personnel engaged in transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance and bridge inspection. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials, private entities and/or contractors. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

**Essential Duties**:

- Advises staff engineers.
- Coordinates with area engineers on design and plan preparation.
- Makes presentations and represents TxDOT.
- Prepares and submits Plans, Specifications and Estimates (P. S. & E.) on projects.
- Prepares correspondence and reports.
- Recommends transportation engineering training needs.
- Represents the Department at meetings, conferences and related activities.
- Responsible for district highway/bridge design functions.
- Trains engineering staff.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
**Education**: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.

**Experience**:

- 4 years experience in transportation engineering. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)._ Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis._ Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
- Must have one (1) year supervisory/managerial experience. _Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience._

**Licenses and Certifications**:

- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Licensed Prof Engineer*
- _Professional engineers licensed in another state _in the United States_, but not currently licensed in the State of Texas, must (1) meet the license requirements of the State of Texas Engineering Practices Act, (2) obtain a professional engineering license from the State of Texas within six (6) months of the date of hire, and (3) sign an agreement to that effect as a condition of employment._
