Special Education Administrator/coordinator

**Work collaboratively with administration, faculty, staff and families to ensure that students are provided the best opportunity for an education possible while identifying and assisting them in developing plans to better meet their needs.**
**- Chairs IEP meetings and annual review conferences for students with disabilities**
**- Chairs 504 Plan meetings for students**
**- Assumes responsibility for the continual improvement of the quality of instruction in the district’s special education program**
**- Encourages special education teachers to utilize current best practices in methods and materials for assigned students**
**- Meets and confers with parents as necessary**
**- Oversees and coordinates the clerical work for the team**
**- Reviews all school IEPs to ensure quality and compliance and ensures accuracy of information in IEP-on Line and PowerSchool database;**
**- Coordinates with administrators regarding caseloads, schedules, special education state assessment processes;**
**- Oversees special education eligibility and re-evaluation processes**
**- Coordinates related services for special education placement**
**- Participates in the development of all Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP) and Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA)**
**- Participates and facilitates Manifestation Determination Review**
**- Completes educational assessment as related to eligibility process**
**- Fosters parental participation in the special education process**
**- Addresses behavioral strategies for special education students**
**- Conducts observations for students and staff**
**- Assists with staff and paraprofessional evaluations giving input to administrative team**
**- Ensures procedural safeguards are met**
**- Trains and assists special education teachers with best practice instructional strategies**
**- Provides training for staff regarding special education processes and classroom instructional practices**
**- Provides small group instruction for students based on evidenced best practices as needed**
**- Submits records and reports and assignments**
**- Maintains and upholds school policies and procedures**
**- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations.**
**- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes**
**- Facilitates, attends and participates in faculty and department meetings**
**- Develops, in cooperation with colleagues and administration, a plan for enrichment and/or intervention of instruction for the classroom instruction**
**- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all students**
**- Performs related duties as assigned by the school Director of Special Education**
**- Facilitating Summary of Performance meetings**
**- Scheduling meetings will college representatives**
**- Manage calendar for all 504 and IEP meetings**
**- Plan, design, and deliver professional learning opportunities.**
**- Provide ongoing support, based on professional learning, to teachers and related service staff.**
**- Works collaboratively with parents, outside providers, and team members.**
**- Utilize a problem-solving process when leading meetings.**
**- Promote positive discipline practices for students (PBIS Team)**
**- Collaborate with general education and special education staff to brainstorm interventions for struggling students**
**- Coordinate with hospital liaisons to facilitate educational needs for students that are hospitalized for extended periods of time.**
**- Provide paperwork and discuss Student needs with new staff**
