**SUMMARY**: The Complex Hatchery** **Quality Assurance Administrator is responsible for performing various hatchery quality assurance tasks while maintaining a safe work environment. This position works independently and supports all Virginia hatchery operations, to include our Stone Spring, South Main St. and Broadway hatcheries. This position is involved in the entire incubation process that runs 24/7 and requires random varying work hours for testing and data collection.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES **include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Candling and residue break out to determine hatch opportunities.
- Weighing and tracking eggs to determine moisture loss.
- Chick quality assessments w/ vaccine takes.
- Completing processing quality assessment -holding temps, washer temps/ PH, injury assessment
- Record vital information (chiller temps & pressure, processing run times)
- Prepull chick assessment
- Periodic pretransfer evaluation
- Audit vaccine and AW docs
- Complete egg pack evaluation
- Conduct quarterly animal welfare audits.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Take samples for internal checks and balances throughout the incubation process.
- Internal company audits with customers.
- Knowledge of 24/7 incubation process.
- Responsible for company vehicle.
**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**
This position will not have supervisory responsibility.
**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**
**Required**
oBachelors Degree in animal or poultry science or related degree program or 4 years of experience in poultry or quality assurance
oExcellent interpersonal and communication skills written and verbal
oPAACO certified within first year.
oValid Drivers License
**Preferred**
oExperience with Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations
oHatchery Experience
