Deputy Director of Fire Support Operations

The incumbent in this position will mentor and lead the operational support section of the fire department including but not limited to the command center, fleet, and facilities. The Deputy Director of Fire Support Operations will also review and monitor budget updates, management of actions necessary to balance budget, anticipation of revenue changes, and the execution of cost-benefit studies and brief the Chief Deputy and the Fire Chief on project initiatives. Additionally, the incumbent will develop and promote effective working relationships with County and external agencies as well as attend and represent the department at various governmental and citizen meetings, conferences, or other scheduled events.

This class has been designated At-Will by the Board of Supervisors, in accordance with the provisions provided under Article 6, Section 601E (2) of the County Management Resolution and will serve at the pleasure of the Chief Deputy County Fire.

This class has been deemed eligible for the Performance Recognition Plan as set forth under Article 3, Section 311 of the County Management Resolution. Program eligibility requires employees to be in a leadership position, manage other employees or programs, and have a significant influence on the achievement of organizational objectives.

The Riverside County Fire Department is one of California’s largest integrated, cooperative, regional fire protection organizations. The Department, a unique partnership between State of California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and the County of Riverside, serves 19 partner agencies and 1 community service district. The Department has five core values: Leadership, Competence, Integrity, Safety, and Customer Service.
