As a motivated and diligent CLASS A DRIVER (Logistics Support Specialist), your responsibilities will include:

  1. Adhering to daily routing instructions and avoiding deviations from the route unless authorized by the Transportation Supervisor or their designee.
  2. Effectively managing your time to ensure completion of the route within the designated work schedule. All routes must be fully completed each day, barring any exceptions approved by the Transportation Supervisor or their designee.
  3. Ensuring the safe loading and unloading of the assigned vehicle. Assisting with the loading or unloading of other vehicles as needed.
  4. Training, instructing, and supervising truck helpers in their Work Therapy Assignments (WTA), emphasizing the importance of modeling good personal and professional work habits.
  5. Managing Bag & Tag processes as directed by the Supervisor and established procedures.
  6. Representing The Salvation Army by providing courteous service to all customers and promptly reporting any donor issues or concerns during pickups to the supervisor via dispatch.
  7. Complying with all DOT regulations and state and local laws while maintaining a clean driving record. Attending all required driver safety meetings.
  8. Performing additional duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor, Director of Production, or their designated representatives.

Qualifications for consideration:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class A driver's license.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Strong time management and customer service abilities.
  • Capability to operate electronic devices for daily routing information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files, clothing carts, and other equipment.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.

Work Schedule

Work schedules are determined by management, and employees must be flexible to ensure adequate coverage. Full-time employees may be scheduled for any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
