**Human Resource Specialist - FMLA/Leaves of Absence/Workers’ Compensation**

Location: Central Office

Start Date: July 1, 2024

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or another related field preferred.
- Knowledge of FMLA/Leaves of Absence/Workers' Compensation.
- Must possess, or be able to quickly develop, a high level of proficiency of pertinent technologies and computer programs (MUNIS, PowerSchool, Aspen, Microsoft Suite).
- This role always demands a high degree of independent judgment and a high degree of confidentiality and sensitivity at all times.

**REPORTS TO**: Director of Human Resources

**JOB GOAL**:

- To effectively manage Human Resource functions, ensuring compliance, fostering a positive work environment and facilitate strategic talent acquisition and development initiatives aligned with organizational goals.

**PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES**:FMLA/LOA’s/Attendance/Workers' Compensation**
- Manage and process FMLA/Leaves of Absence for all employees.
- Support all compliance aspects of HR including FMLA, ADA, EEO reporting, etc.
- Manage time off requests in Absence Management - entry and staff communication.
- Track all injury reports including Workers’ Compensation claims as needed.
- Assist employees in accessing the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) when requested.
- Collaborate with Payroll/Benefits Administrator on human resources related matters.
- Prepare draft reports and documents which include pertinent data and information related to specific district topics.
- Work in a resourceful manner in dealing with complaints and problem-solving situations.
- Initiate, monitor, and adjusts processes and procedures to streamline and increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and refine his/her own work routines to carry assignments through to completion independently. Directions are received in the form of more general outlines, with work expectations reviewed in detail when tasks are unusual in nature.
- Perform other responsibilities as deemed appropriate and assigned by the administrator_._

**Strong organizational and prioritization skills.** Ability to efficiently and accurately handle large volumes of work and a wide-variety of tasks associated with the running of a consistently busy, fast-paced and collaborative office. Ability to manage and organize multiple projects and tasks is an essential part of this position. Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.

**Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail.** The position requires proofreading and editing various types of documents, and composing written communications as well as other materials.

**Excellent interpersonal skills required.** Ability to work collegially and cooperatively with all constituencies within the school community is essential. Ability to manage stressful situations if they arise. Independent worker and a strong team player - a willingness and ability to collaborate with others is a must.

**Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:
Must possess or develop proficient knowledge of school system staff and responsibilities, practices and procedures, School Committee policies, and the Massachusetts Public Records Law. A deep commitment to customer service, managing oneself in an environment that cares for each employee, and being genuinely interested in helping all staff to perform at high levels.

**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**:
A multi-year contract with a competitive salary commensurate with training and experience and an attractive benefit package will be offered.

Work Hours: 8:00-4:30; Can be flexible to a certain degree.
