Job Title: Student Life Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Residence Life
Location: Bellower, CA

**Overview**
This position involves providing direct care and supervision to predominantly international high school-age students (grades 9-12); supporting their educational, social, and emotional needs; and supervising their afternoon, evening and weekend activities, thereby allowing them to achieve the best possible outcomes in a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. The Student Life Coordinator will especially focus on activities and programming that contribute to an exciting, supportive life for the students, both during the day-to-day life and for special events.

You will work within the mission and philosophy of the boarding program and under the general direction of the Director of Residence Life.

This is a full-time, live-in position during the 2024 - 2025 school year (ending June 2025), with contract renewal for the 2025-2026 school year in view, pending performance evaluation.

Hours may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekend, overnight.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Have an understanding of the boarding program’s mission and philosophy.
- Provide active supervision of the residential hall and students during time on duty.
- Provide a safe, supportive, nurturing environment for students.
- Ensure that students are abiding by the Dorm policies and procedures.
- Supervise and provide guidance to Resident Advisors and student leaders/prefects as they assist in the daily routines of the house.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends for student programs and events.
- Develops, implements, maintains and promotes effective student activities programs and services for the dorm program.
- Oversee the dorm student council.
- Coordinate with local partners to host service events, workshops, and other activities.
- Assists in the planning, promotion, supervision and production of a number of student activities, encompassing the four core developmental foci of the dorm: Physical, Academic, Mental, Emotional
- Coordinates with the Director of Residence Life to oversee day-to-day needs of student life, including inventory, facilities maintenance, cleanliness, and medical needs.
- Gauge and document student responses to quality of life in the dorm, and coordinate with the Director of Residence Life to address any concerns.
- Conduct quarterly safety drills (i.e., fire, lockdown) in cooperation with and at the direction of the Residence Life office.
- Assist with training new Resident Advisors in their duties.
- Serve as on-campus contact in the absence of the Director of Residence Life.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life.

**As part of the role as a member of the residential community**:

- Report any safety issues to the Director of Residence Life.
- Inspect all student rooms weekly and report any maintenance issues or damage to the Residence Life office.
- Work with other residential staff to make sure students are following the daily routine, evening study hours, lights out, morning wake up and room inspection.
- Report to the Director of Residence Life any students who are not consistently following school policies and procedures for house life.
- Actively supervise any guests in the house to make sure they are in approved areas and following guest protocols and procedures.
- Report any minor student illnesses or medical issues to the Director of Residence Life.
- In the event of a student violation of a major school rule (alcohol, illegal or prescription drugs, smoking in the building), write down details and inform the Director of Residence Life.
- Attend weekly house meetings to discuss or present any issues or concerns about student behavior or activities in the house.
- While on duty, be visible, check student rooms and common areas.
- In the event of an evening activity or emergency, take the emergency student roster, make sure to do a final check of student rooms and the common areas before exiting the building.
- Make sure that all students are accounted for at various times during your duty shift using REACH software, during evening study hours and at lights out. Report any absences to the Director of Residence Life.
- Drive students to and from school athletics, health & wellness appointments and other locations assigned by the Director of Residence Life.

**Personal Requirements**
- You must care about and enjoy interacting with young adults. You must also be aware that you have a great responsibility, as parents have entrusted you with ensuring the safety of their child.
- You must have confidence in yourself to make the right decisions when working with students and also know when to step back and call the AOD or school administrator for assistance.
