**Position Description**

**Position Title**: Childcare Coordinator

**Reports to**: Director of Lifespan Faith Development

**Directly supervises**: Adult Childcare Providers, Youth Childcare Providers

**Status**: Part-time, hourly

**FLSA**: Non-exempt

**Normal working hours**: 5-7 hours per week, 44 weeks per year (approx. mid August - mid-June) 2-3 Sunday morning shifts per month with additional administrative and support hours the schedule for which is somewhat flexible. Some work may be done from home.

**Position Summary**

The Childcare Coordinator coordinates and provides childcare for infants and toddlers in the Society’s nursery, occasionally supervises and leads activities with children and youth, and manages classrooms and materials for the Children's Faith Development Program.

**Essential Functions**
- Provides supervision for infants, toddlers and children.
- Supervises the Adult Childcare Providers as well as Youth Childcare Providers.
- Ensures that a minimum of one Adult Childcare Provider and one other ChildcareProvider is present whenever childcare is offered.
- Ensures that all childcare staff are properly informed of expectations, schedules and procedures.
- Hires adult and teen childcare staff as needed.
- Submits payroll paperwork for all childcare staff on a regular and timely basis.
- Ensures that a caring, clean, and welcoming environment is maintained in the nursery and other childcare spaces.
- Ensures that childcare supplies and equipment are safe, well-maintained, and age appropriate.
- Ensures that parents are oriented to Sunday morning nursery procedures.
- Ensures that supervised activities for children are engaging, stimulating, and appropriate both intellectually and emotionally.
- Responds promptly to any suspicion of abuse or neglect, whether physical or psychological, of children.
- Maintains inventory and organization of all Faith Development program supplies, furniture, equipment, and materials
- Acquires special supplies as needed
- Ensures preparedness of classrooms and availability of materials
- Records classroom attendance electronically and responds to teacher needs regarding supplies and equipment
- Maintains faith development bulletin board displays
- Fosters a familiarity with, and respect for the principles and values of Unitarian Universalism.

**Other Duties**
- Meets regularly with the Director of Lifespan Faith Development

**Minimum Qualifications**
- A minimum of three years applicable work experience is preferred.
- Experience in a paid group childcare setting, or completion of an early childhood training program strongly desired.
- Experience with programs for children and youth and/or an educational setting strongly desired
- Successful screening per First UU’s Safe Congregation policies.
- Must be currently trained in Adult, Infant, and Child CPR and First Aid, or be willing to attend a training at the society’s request.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 - 7 per week
