Your primary responsibility will be to oversee billing procedures related to Medicaid and the Tellus claim system. This includes verifying patient information, processing claims, and resolving billing discrepancies. Attention to detail, organization, and a commitment to compliance with Virginia Labor laws and healthcare regulations are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Medicaid Billing: Process Medicaid claims accurately and in a timely manner according to state regulations and guidelines.
2. Tellus Claim System Management: Utilize the Tellus claim system to submit, track, and manage claims efficiently.
3. Patient Information Verification: Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and eligibility to ensure accurate billing.
4. Claims Processing: Prepare and submit claims for services provided to Medicaid patients, ensuring adherence to billing guidelines and regulations.
5. Billing Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve any billing discrepancies or denials, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders as needed.
6. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain organized and accurate documentation of billing activities, including claim submissions, payments, and adjustments.
7. Compliance: Stay informed about changes in Medicaid billing regulations and Virginia Labor laws to ensure compliance and minimize billing errors.
8. Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and government agencies regarding billing inquiries, disputes, and resolutions.
9. Reporting: Generate regular reports on billing metrics, including claim submission rates, payment turnaround times, and outstanding balances.
10. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline billing processes, improve efficiency, and reduce errors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in billing or healthcare administration is a plus.
- Familiarity with Medicaid billing procedures and the Tellus claim system is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of patient information and adhering to ethical standards in healthcare billing practices.
