**Duties**:
**Duties for the Program Analyst GS-0343-12 in the Immediate Office, include but not limited to**:

- Assist the Director of Congressional Affairs in developing and facilitating OIG's strategic and policy planning related to congressional and legislative matters;
- Assist in developing strategies for improving and maintaining strong relationships with Congress;
- Make recommendations to the senior officials and staff on actions initiated by Congressional committees, individual Members of Congress, and their staffs that are of direct and indirect concern to OIG;
- Review and provide analysis of congressional and legislative activities in light of Departmental and OIG policies and objectives to identify positive or negative ramifications for OIG;
- Review and provide analysis of OIG work plans, activities, and other products to identify potential congressional and/or legislative issues and make recommendations to advance OIG priorities;
- Prepare briefing materials on congressional and legislative matters;
- Review proposed or new legislation and consult with the appropriate OIG officials in evaluating the impact of this legislation on OIG programs, authorities, and operations.

**Qualifications**:

- You must meet the requirements of the job by 11:59 (Eastern Standard Time) of the closing date: 04/18/2024- Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. **Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following**:

- Assist and assume responsibility and accountability for the development and/or implementation of program activities in support of congressional affairs (i.e. liaison activity with congressional staff member; and identify potential congressional and/or legislative issues) as it pertains to agency's mission.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume should include the dates of all qualifying experience (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours worked/volunteered per week.

**Education**:
**There is no education substitution at the GS-12 grade level for this position.**
