Library Technician

Specific duties and responsibilities will vary depending on assignment and location but will typically include the following:
- Perform collections maintenance tasks, including shelving, filing, and organizing materials according to established classification systems.
- Provide circulation support by checking materials in and out, issuing library cards, and assisting patrons with account inquiries.
- Assist with document delivery services, including locating and retrieving requested materials from the library's collection.
- Coordinate interlibrary loan requests, including processing incoming and outgoing loan requests, and maintaining accurate records of borrowing and lending activities.
- Assist patrons with reference inquiries and provide basic research assistance under the guidance of librarians.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of library policies, procedures, and guidelines related to collections management and circulation services.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support the overall goals and objectives of the library.
**Requirements**:
**Mandatory Qualifications**
- High School Degree or Equivalent
- Previous experience working in a library or similar environment, particularly in a law library or academic library
- Knowledge of how to shelve and file materials according to the Library of Congress Classification System
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with library patrons and staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field preferred.
- Familiarity with legal research tools and resources, such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, and legal databases, is preferred.
