**About Bulamu**:
Bulamu Healthcare is a U.S. and Uganda-registered non-profit organization. Founded in 2016, it holds 501(c)3 status in California (EIN: 47-4196766). Our mission is: To treat the sick and strengthen health systems serving Africans most in need. Since 2016, our Ugandan medical staff have treated 320,000+ patients including 11,000+ surgery patients. Our work makes us a strong partner of Uganda's county governments and Ministry of Health (MOH). Those partnerships drive improvements in care in 353 partner health facilities (and counting) We have 12 active district partnerships -covering 17% of the country, by population.

In 2023 alone, Bulamu has measurably reduced newborn mortality at scale. How did we do it? Our comprehensive approach trains maternity workers at 50 health centers (and counting) in WHO Essential Newborn Care. **Position Overview**:
You will report directly to Bulamu's President and CEO. You will help lead and grow Bulamu's development efforts. Your work will drive our continued growth in funding and impact.

**Responsibilities**:
Build a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors. This includes individuals, private foundations and organizations. You will have latitude in how you do this work. You will likely make personal visits, write solicitations, host introductory events, edit proposals and reports, and initiate meetings with prospects.
Focus on discovering and developing new relationships and funding partnerships.
Put in place a strategic gift solicitation plan for generating major gifts and pledges from high-level prospects. Your focus is on prospects with short-term gift potential $2,500 and up and long-term gift potential of $25,000 and up
Act as principal donor strategist for each prospect in your portfolio. You will develop a written strategy for your donors and record all interactions in the CRM database.
Manage a cost-effective budget and expenses related to fundraising
Understand Bulamu’s mission, vision and values and our programmatic activities and goals
Keep your portfolio donors well informed and appreciated throughout the year.
Support Bulamu Board of Directors to expand the network of people who contribute to Bulamu’s work
Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with other Bulamu team-members.

**Qualifications**:
4-8 years of experience, including proven results in major gift fundraising
Effective writing skills, including the ability to draft compelling donor proposals
Experience working with senior leaders to achieve fundraising goals
Strong organizational skills. You can work well with teams and follow through with a variety of constituencies
Exemplary interpersonal skills. Ability and desire to work with culturally diverse staff across continents
Ability to travel occasionally for meetings and fundraising activities
