This position is in the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), Office of the Director. The Department of Housing and Community Development is charged with producing and preserving opportunities for affordable housing and economic development and revitalizing underserved communities in the District of Columbia. The incumbent in this role is responsible for administering and performing work involved in establishing and maintaining mutual communication between the Department and other local and Federal government agencies, the public, and various other pertinent publics including internal or external, and foreign or domestic audiences.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Develops and disseminates informational materials to a variety of public entities to enhance the understanding of certain attitudes and practices advocated by the Department for the planned and efficient use of resources. Responsible for administering and/or performing work involved in establishing and maintaining mutual communication between the Department and other local and Federal government agencies, the public and various other pertinent publics including internal or external, and foreign or domestic audiences.

Participates in the strategic planning process and in the delivery and coordination of outreach information gathering/dissemination to external governmental and private entities and communities within the District of Columbia. Advises DHCD management on policy formulation and the potential public reaction to proposed policy and identifies and carries out the public communication requirements inherent in disseminating policy decisions. Analyzes and evaluates citywide program needs to advise the Director and other senior management of the information that should be made available to the public or approaches to take to attain program goals.

**Qualifications and Education**
- Specialized Experience: _Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Work is performed in an office setting, although the incumbent’s duties require visits to other agencies and records repositories.
