Under the close supervision of a Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the Accountant Trainee performs semi-professional accounting duties in a learning capacity in the Accounts Payable Section, Contracts Unit. The incumbent learns to review, audit, and approve invoices, through the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) or through manual process, and to resolve various issues handled by the unit.

**This position is a 12 month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.**

If you currently have permanent status in your position and have passed probation, you have mandatory reinstatement rights into your former position at the end of this LT appointment. If you have not had prior permanent or probationary civil service status, you will be separated from state service.
- During this 12-month Limited Term assignment, you will receive full health, dental, and vision benefits You will also earn State Service and accrue monthly leave credits.

Working Conditions
- This position is headquartered in our brand-new state of the art high rise building located in downtown Sacramento.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods.
- Time off may not be granted during the year-end Financial Statement period. Work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Attend meetings and hearings.
- Hybrid teleworking.
