***: The Communications Coordinator reports to the Employee Communications Supervisor and assists in the execution of a wide range of communications activities. This is an entry-level position which creates content and performs associated administrative tasks.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL, BASIC AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION. HOWEVER, THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT. THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Assists in composing, verifying, editing, and distributing approved communications and collateral
- Assists in coordination of employee engagement events
- Helps create highly optimized content for communications strategies and plans
- Tracks and schedules messages and manages editorial schedules, calendars, and channels
- Develops and maintains working relationships with internal partners to support the promotion of Association activities, benefits, and services
- Acts as a brand steward, upholding brand and trademark standards and consistency in all work
- Performs ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned

**REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field, or equivalent experience
- One (1) year of general corporate communications or public relations experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Public sector experience
- Insurance industry experience
- Graphic design experience

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**:

- Excellent written and oral presentations skills including clear, effective verbal and written communication skills

and the ability to actively listen, problem solve, and communicate effectively
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently
- Knowledge of journalistic principles and the techniques of planning, composing, and editing content
- Knowledge of marketing/public relations practices, techniques, and procedures
- Knowledge of graphic design and the general principles of layout and design
- Ability to compose and produce a variety of content and informational materials
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines and during a catastrophe

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**: Requires the ability to speak, hear, and use a personal computer for standard business communications and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
