***: The Communications Coordinator reports to the Employee Communications Supervisor and assists in the execution of a wide range of communications activities. This is an entry-level position which creates content and performs associated administrative tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Assists in composing, verifying, editing, and distributing approved communications and collateral
  • Assists in coordination of employee engagement events
  • Helps create highly optimized content for communications strategies and plans
  • Tracks and schedules messages and manages editorial schedules, calendars, and channels
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with internal partners to support the promotion of Association activities, benefits, and services
  • Acts as a brand steward, upholding brand and trademark standards and consistency in all work
  • Performs ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • One (1) year of general corporate communications or public relations experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Public sector experience
  • Insurance industry experience
  • Graphic design experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and oral presentations skills including clear, effective verbal and written communication skills
and the ability to actively listen, problem solve, and communicate effectively

  • Detailoriented with strong organizational skills, able to perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently
  • Knowledge of journalistic principles and the techniques of planning, composing, and editing content
  • Knowledge of marketing/public relations practices, techniques, and procedures
  • Knowledge of graphic design and the general principles of layout and design
  • Ability to compose and produce a variety of content and informational materials
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines and during a catastrophe

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires the ability to speak, hear, and use a personal computer for standard business communications and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
