About the School

Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School opened in 2023 and serves students in grades K-4 during the SY2023-24 school year and K-5 SY2024-2025. As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that focuses on three levels of student achievement: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work.

**Responsibilities**:
? Demonstrate skills in English language, literature, composition, reading and writing to students who are bilingual/English language learners.

? Work with classroom teachers to develop strategies to aid in improved literacy for all students.

? Gather and analyze data to track student progress

? Administer a language screener for bilingual students for whom a language barrier is impeding their academic success.

? Model appropriate English communication for the purpose of developing students? ability to communicate effectively in the English language.

? Push into the general education classroom to support teachers in delivering Sheltered Content Instruction.

? Model culturally responsive teaching practices.

? Develop and implement a rigorous curriculum that helps ELL students to build academic and content-area language and vocabulary.

? Collaborate with classroom teachers in integrating the WIDA English Language Proficiency Standards into content area instruction and in identifying ways in which students at all levels of English development can be supported in the content areas.

? Administer screenings for students to determine placement and the ACCESS assessment to measure English Language Development.

**Qualifications**:
? Bachelor?s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

? Massachusetts teaching licensure in English as a Second Language Pre-K-6.

? Bilingual preferred.

? A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.

? Demonstrated student-centered approach to teaching and learning.

? Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including students, staff, and families across a range of identities.

? A decisive educator who can make difficult decisions taking into consideration the needs of students and the school community.
