Job Title: Teacher of English as a Second Language and Humanities

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated teacher to join our team at New Citizen Center - Secondary. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students the ESL/Humanities state frameworks and curriculum disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Remain up-to-date regarding curriculum content and effectively plan and assess curriculum and instruction.
  • Monitor students' understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments as needed.
  • Manage the classroom environment effectively and provide high-quality instruction that includes making learning goals clear to students.
  • Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies to increase student learning and confidence to learn.
  • Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement and equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning.
Requirements:
  • Massachusetts DESE certification in Dual ESL and ELA licenses for grades 7-12.
  • SEI Endorsement.
  • BA degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Dual ESL, ELA, and History licenses for grades 7-12.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs.
  • Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African Language.
  • Experience teaching students who are English language learners.
Work Year and Salary:

184 days. Appropriate step on Teacher's Salary Schedule.
