Madison, United States GWAAR Full time

The Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources Inc. (GWAAR) currently has a full-time exempt **Volunteer Coordinator** position available with the Senior Medicare Patrol program.

The Volunteer Coordinator is an essential team member within the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) program, a federally funded grant program. The goal of the Senior Medicare Patrol is to raise awareness and identify Medicare fraud, errors, and abuse. The program focuses on educating and empowering Medicare beneficiaries to be good health care consumers and to recognize potential misuses of Medicare. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, and oversight of the volunteer team, along with coordinating the presence of volunteers at community events. The Volunteer Coordinator will deliver educational presentations and conduct outreach, provide support with the toll-free helpline to answer inquiries and provide beneficiary education regarding billing issues and suspected fraud, and work to develop and strengthen partnerships with other agencies and professional associations. The position is remote with a flexible location within the state of Wisconsin. (It is not necessary to be based in the Madison area; however, there is some travel within the state required for this position.)

A bachelor’s degree and experience managing a statewide volunteer program to include recruitment, training, retention, recognition, day-to-day management, and conflict resolution is required. This position requires daily interaction with Medicare beneficiaries and professionals who work with Medicare beneficiaries; therefore, superior written and oral communication skills are necessary. Familiarity with Medicare, Social Security, and/or other benefit programs is highly desirable. Access to a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to occasionally travel overnight throughout the state are required.
