**Brighton Park Neighborhood Council (BPNC)** is a community based not-for-profit organization that works with local residents to build their leadership skills and to explore issues impacting their lives and their community and work towards social justice.

Under the general supervision of the Ladders Program Manager, the Book Club-Literature instructor will be responsible for providing in-person introductory lessons in literature to adults twice a week in a medium group setting. They will also offer assistance in learning and understanding literature. Additionally, they will communicate with the Ladder Organizer and BPNC’s staff to discuss participants' attendance and post-secondary plans, as well as provide bi-weekly lesson plans to the Ladder Organizer (supervisor).
- **This position is a contract part-time position. The contractor must be available for an hour and a half twice a week starting June 2024 with an hourly rate of $23.00.**_

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assist adults in understanding literature material.
- Interact and communicate in a supportive, respectful, and professional manner with students, parents, community members, and other staff members.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Help support other BPNC initiatives.
- Other related job duties as needed.

**POSITION REQUIREMENTS**:

- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
- 1-2 years of experience preferred
- Adult friendly/positive attitude
- Must be able to pass a background check and fill out all required employment documentation
- Maintain good communication with participants and Ladders Organizer (supervisor)
- Any changes in the work schedule MUST be previously approved by Ladder Program Manager
- Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, non-judgmental, clear sense of boundaries
- Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and communities and ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate
- Ability to work hybrid

**Job Type**: Contract

Pay: $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 per week

**Experience**:
