**Introduction**:
The Division of Unemployment Insurance is currently recruiting to fill two entry-level clerical job opportunities within the Support Services Section. Customers of all walks of life submit information, reports, and various documents to the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division. We're hiring Customer Support Specialists to make sure those documents have all the necessary information and are processed according to customer needs.

These positions are located in downtown Madison, located close to restaurants, shopping, bike paths, and the Madison Metro bus line. These are full time, first shift positions which will work in-person at least a majority of the time, especially during the first six months of new-hire training. Once new hire training is completed and job expectations are being met, there may be some flexibility to work remotely in Wisconsin on occasion, according to business needs.

This recruitment may be used to fill future similar permanent, project, and/or LTE vacancies.

- Route all documents according to UI policies
- Use a personal computer, specialized equipment and software to process, batch, scan, and route documents and correspondence

**Salary Information**:
Starting salary is $21.23 per hour, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 2% wage increase is anticipated on 6/30/2024. Use this Total Rewards Calculator to see an estimate of the total value of our competitive benefits package

A 12-month probationary period will be required. The classification title for this position is Employment Security Assistant 3 (schedule 02, range 11). This position is not represented in a collective bargaining unit.

Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.

**Job Details**:
We consider all qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state, and local law. Finalists for this position will be required to allow DWD to conduct a background check or other checks to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. For positions with access to sensitive federal tax information, FBI fingerprinting may also be required.

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a US citizen or national or a lawful permanent resident) at the time of appointment. DWD does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. This is not a contract position. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

You will **need to have** experience:

- Entering data into a spreadsheet or database.
- Showing attention to detail, including following complex directions.
- Dealing with interruptions, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.
- Communicating with internal or external customers.

It would be **nice to have** training and/or experience in any of the following:

- Work that is governed by precise rules, policies, or regulations, such as insurance, finance, healthcare, government programs, etc.
- Working with web-based document management or data systems (such as Office 365, Kofax, PeopleSoft, eDOCS, or similar).
- Adapting to changes, taking initiative to identify task needs, and communicate with team members to ensure all work is covered.
