Washington, D.C.
**Job Description**:
NCGA is seeking a Legislative Assistant in our Washington, D.C. office. This role assists the public policy and communications team on activities such as tracking legislation, supporting PAC administration and logistics, etc. The Legislative Assistant will be on the front lines of communication with our grower members and leadership.
Specifically, the Legislative Assistant will work closely with the Office Operations Director on administrative activities. This position will also assist the lead staff for the Risk Management and Transportation Action Team, which is responsible for policy development concerning grower risk management tools including farm bill commodity and crop insurance programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform administrative functions for staff, handle mail, and assist as needed to ensure the DC office runs exceptionally.
- Work with Washington Office Operations Director to gather data for compliance reports.
- Work with the Director of Risk Management and Tax on meeting coordination, logistics, and team member communications for Action Team and Congressional meetings.
- Support all policy staff as needed on issues such as risk management, trade, transportation, ethanol, conservation, biotechnology, agriculture research, stewardship, etc.
- Serve as representative of the association to external industry partners, grower members, and NCGA affiliated state and national staff.

- Ability to handle multiple tasks under demanding time constraints and set appropriate priorities
- Willingness to learn processes and systems
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite and other basic computer skills, willing to learn PAC software (DDC) and basic design software (Canva).
- Interest in agriculture/agriculture policy
- Ability to travel domestically 3-4 times per year
Reports to:
Washington Office Operations Director. Role also entails daily working relationship with policy and communications staff.
