**Overview**: As an entry-level construction assistant specializing in systems documentation, you will play a vital role in diagramming and documenting existing building systems, including valve charting, shut-offs, electrical layouts, and fire alarm panel locations. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in mapping out these systems accurately, both in the field and through the interpretation of architectural and engineering plans. This position requires a blend of technical proficiency, visual acuity, and hands-on fieldwork, with opportunities to develop skills in construction documentation and project management.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Systems Mapping**:

- Assist in mapping out existing building systems, including water supply lines, HVAC systems, electrical circuits, and fire alarm components.
- Utilize architectural and engineering plans to locate and document system elements accurately.
- **Diagramming**:

- Create clear and concise diagrams and schematics to represent the layout and configuration of building systems.
- Use basic software tools such as MS Word and Excel to develop and maintain documentation.
- **Field Work**:

- Conduct on-site inspections to verify the location and condition of building systems.
- Collaborate with field teams to gather necessary information and measurements for documentation purposes.
- **Coordination**:

- Work closely with construction managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate representation of building systems.
- Communicate effectively to resolve discrepancies and clarify system details as needed.
- **Safety Compliance**:

- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while conducting fieldwork, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe ladder climbing practices.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in construction, engineering, or related field is a plus.
- Basic understanding of building systems and construction terminology.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering plans.
- Strong visual and spatial reasoning skills.
- Basic proficiency in MS Word and Excel for documentation purposes.
- Willingness to work in the field and perform hands-on tasks, including climbing ladders and accessing confined spaces.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment.
