In 1878, Thomas Dudley Wooten, one of the founders of the University of Texas, purchased the land on which Hotel Ella now sits. Wooten’s son, Goodall, moved into the home on the property in 1900 with his new wife, Ella, who oversaw its transformation into a Greek revival mansion.

The mansion underwent an extensive renovation in 2013, and now offers the perfect balance between modernity and a rich history rooted in the fabric of the neighborhood and the university.

We are seeking a Maintenance Lead Technician to oversee facilities improvement projects and implement effective procedures and systems to ensure that the property is maintained and physically functioning at a high level at all times. The Maintenance Lead will report into the Director of Rooms and work closely with the General Manager as well as other members of the management team to ensure that consistent policies and procedures are being adhered to and that short and long term organizational goals are being met.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Plan and execute corrective maintenance and project work and maintain tracking data check sheet and logs.
- Ensure all complaints are handled with extreme courtesy and promptness.
- Ensure service requests are followed up on, completed and communicated to teams.
- Proactively follow specific departmental procedures in performing repairs, maintenance, alterations and installations in a safe and tidy manner.
- Participate in regular property walk
- throughs and complete identified deficiencies within an appropriate time.
- Ensure an adequate supply of spare parts in inventory and ask management to order replacements as needed.
- Comply with the latest insurance, local county, state and federal government codes, laws and requirements.
- Determine defects, troubleshoot malfunctions and take necessary corrective actions following specific departmental procedures.
- Train new associates in the maintenance department.
- Have a basic working knowledge of general building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems as well as fire sprinkler and emergency power systems.
- Delegate and/or coordinate shift staff duties.
- Operate various hand and power tools in a safe manner.
- Function as a member of the emergency organization team and become an expert on life safety systems, fire, safety, and protection equipment/hazards.
- Organize and complete preventative maintenance programs on guest rooms and equipment and ensure all potential safety hazards are corrected.
- Monitor and perform system tests as necessary; be fully informed of the system operations to handle emergencies.
- Be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect our guests and associates, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency.
- Read, log, track and interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units.
- Attend relevant meetings and remain flexible and responsive to scheduling needs.

**WHO YOU ARE**:

- 2+ years related experience in a maintenance operational role
- Experience strategizing and executing multiple projects at once
- Open availability including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to ongoing changes
- Ability to motivate and train employees
- Ability to identify problems and solve them
- Professional communication with guests and employees
- Clear understanding of the English language (verbal and written)
- Good problem solving skills
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
- Works well autonomously
- Detail oriented and highly organized

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
