The Associate Director, Analytics Solutions role is a management position that will lead the data and technology team within the Value Analytics team. The Value Analytics team sits within the OptumInsight Growth office and supports many stakeholders, including but not limited to Sales, Client Management, Marketing, Product and Operations. The team's focus includes pre-sales, post-sales, research and product development. This role supports the needs of the group through the design, development, implementation and maintenance of tools, infrastructure, data warehousing, solutions, data and ETL to assist in achieving our mission statement of developing actionable analytics for our clients and prospects. The primary focus for this role will be multi-faceted as it will require oversight of the entire technology stack that is necessary to support innovation and growth in analytics. The ideal candidate will be able to lead many projects at once, leverage the necessary resources, establish ownership of the solution side of analytics and leverage prior experience and SME expertise. The role currently has 7 onsite and 1 offshore direct reports, who have skills such as C#, SSIS, SQL, data warehousing, SSRS, Power BI, Azure, Salesforce and Oracle. The candidate should lead the team, manage priorities, mentor staff but also establish ownership of the technology stack and work to enhance it by building new solutions and optimizations. The team works in a very rapid development environment where it is necessary to be very nimble due to sales/client demands. The individual will also be expected to come up with their own ideas on new functionality, new insights and new automations. The individual must have experience across the Microsoft stack with the ability to use/learn any tool necessary to get the job done.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Ownership and understanding of the analytics systems and processes is a must
  • Leverage and mentor onshore and offshore staff
  • Manage projects and delegate accordingly to hit timelines
  • Collect and document system requirements from end-users
  • Assist in the design and build of small-scale systems end-to-end including forms, web, database and ETL
  • Innovate and create new efficiencies to be used in analytics
  • Be a key member of the Value Analytics Leadership team by understanding goals, objectives and purposes of projects
  • Understand the various sources of data needed to support the analytics
  • Ability to use and learn new technology that will serve the business
  • Help to document application logic and educate end-users on the logic
  • Identify and solve system inefficiencies and debug system or data issues
  • Work collaboratively with external teams and VA internal teams
  • Must be able to work with limited direction and oversight
  • Must be able to work with some ambiguity and within a matrixed org and team
  • Must have the ability to think through questions analytically and logically to isolate key issues
  • Must have the ability to connect the dots in determining how all processes and data are connected
  • Must have proven skills to effectively communicate and present
  • Must be a self-starter, a fast learner, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently

Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of development/technical experience preferably in analytics or a data warehousing project environment
  • 5+ years of SQL Server development (developing stored procedures, modeling, T-SQL query development, etc.)
  • 3+ years of SSIS experience
  • 3+ years of C# and .NET experience/knowledge
  • 3+ years of direct leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of healthcare experience
  • 1+ years of experience developing and using Azure
  • 1+ years of experience with EDI transactions
  • Experience supporting an evolving team/environment (sales, marketing, etc.)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
