Role Summary

Develop and improve methods and procedures to verify that we are maintaining an accurate inventory while also reducing labor costs, limiting exposure to date and damage claims and providing a paper-trail for compliance and identify opportunities for improving the process.

Key Responsibilities

Implement industry "best practices" for inventory control procedures and practices in coordination with Operations

Maintain all necessary documents and records

Monitor systems, key performance indicators (KPI), and safety to ensure accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and profitability, bringing matters of concern to the Operations Manager and General Manager

Managing all recall, quality control hold, and disposition of damaged product within the company

Ensure compliance with regulatory agency standards

Conduct physical inventories in an accurate and cost-effective manner

Account for any inventory losses/product shrink

Collect/analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement and solutions

Communication with customers and vendors to discuss new items, inventory levels, services, answer questions and discuss concerns

Provide accurate and timely reports to customers and corporate

Schedule shifts in order to be efficient and productive with the intent to avoid overtime

Ensure coordination with maintenance providers to ensure safe and efficient MHE (Material Handling Equipment)

Ensure coordination of ordering supplies and equipment within approved budget

Initiate accident procedures and conduct accident investigations

Prepare department budget and goals

Help control the OSHA Incident Rate (OIR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTI) by monitoring sanitation, safe working conditions, ensuring safety policies are followed, holding department shift meetings and proper usage of material handling equipment

Monitor/audit daily for GMP, COOL procedures (Country of Origin Labeling), HAACP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and other food safety guidelines

Regular and consistent attendance

Supervise, train and mentor team members

Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED. College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred

Experience in a manufacturing/operations/warehouse environment to include knowledge of warehouse management software

Certifications in LEAN, Six Sigma, ISO 9001, etc. preferred

Experience operating Material Handling Equipment preferred

Basic knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) Hours of Service and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred

Skills & Qualifications

Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources

Ability to maintain and ensure confidentiality of team member and company information

Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects in a collaborative environment

Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback, coaching, and counseling

Ability to apply strong math skills that result in identification of opportunities and justify action plan recommendations

Accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include nights, weekends and holidays

Ability to Travel - approximately 10%

Physical Demands

Ability to read small print on packaging and paperwork, with or without corrective lenses

Ability to utilize good hand-eye coordination and depth perception to operate forklift, reach truck, and HiLo safely and accurately

Ability to take directions using the headset selection system (such as VoCollect)

Ability to work at elevated heights while wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as fall protection harnesses)

Ability to utilize equipment for the job safely and accurately after training (such as computer, handheld tracker, copiers, scanners, printers, radio headsets, forklift, reach truck, etc.)

Independently lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally

Able to sit, stand, walk bend, squat on a frequent to continual basis in a refrigerated warehouse environment

Able to grasp, reach, push or pull (such as boxes of product, or a hand truck) on a frequent basis

Ability to build pallets up to 6 feet tall with case weights up to 50 pounds

Endurance for continuous, fast paced work

Able to adjust to fluctuating temperatures and withstand freezing temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit

Ability to work in a noisy warehouse environment

Able to wear and communicate through headsets for long periods of time as required by location

Able to work while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as steel-toed protective footwear, harness, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, insulated clothing, etc)

Ability to handle and physically be near products which may contain food allergens (such as fish, shellfish, peanuts, etc.)

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $74,500.00.
