Engineering Responsibilities:

HVAC and plumbing system design for commercial projects. Verifies that design, shop and record drawings comply with company policies and procedures.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of AUTOCAD and drafts mechanical/plumbing systems. Develops preconstruction schematic designs for quantity take-offs. Oversees drawing and coordination processes for each project.
Performs a variety of calculations such as, heating and cooling loads, hydronics flow calculations, plumbing fixtures units, energy analysis, etc.
Communicates with vendors for technical support and equipment selection based on size requirements, specific equipment selected and proposed equipment layout.
Visits job sites to assist with and evaluate compliance to approved design documents, drawings and code requirements.
Reviews architectural and structural drawings for their impact on mechanical systems. Coordinates design requirements and resulting designs with the project team.
Performs technical reviews of construction documents and reviews drawings prior to bid and drawing changes prior to construction to identify constructability issues.
Creates technical reports to support recommendations.
Provides professional input during bid strategy development.
Prepares project specifications and assists the project manager in project budget development.
Creates proposal letters and manages bid package development.
Prepares reviews and approves submittals and shop drawings and authors responses to RFIs and code inquiries.
Forecasts labor hours needed for tasks and manages and develops scope, schedule and project fees for projects.

Project Management Responsibilities:

Manage budget, scheduling, and ordering material and equipment for one and/or several commercial projects
Oversee labor, costs of materials, and time management
Efficiently communicate with all vendors and contacts
Responsible for periodic review of construction contractor's work progress and schedule, assist in administering construction contract modifications, determining technical merit of contractor claims and contract changes, manage construction contract submittals and reviews of same
Work with Site Superintendent to provide surveillance of construction to assure that we are conducting quality control operations to produce work in conformance with plans and specifications
Participate in weekly coordination meetings to ensure budget and schedule requirements are met
Conduct periodic site surveys of construction contracts for QA purposes and notify of any corrective actions or recommendations to correct contractor performance or construction acceptance
Check construction layout work, compute quantities, and prepare and check contractors' monthly pay estimates and cost estimates to support the contract modification
Manage projects by providing support for field teams, while practicing and promoting safe work practices

Estimating Responsibilities:

Respond to government RFP/RFQ's and solicitations
Build customer relationships
Produce accurate cost estimates and proposals
Ensuring all proposals meet the RFP/RFQ requirements
Utilize construction knowledge to accurately help bid pricing and identify project tasks
Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid or project
Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex projects
Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine scope of work and required contents of project estimate
Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc
Interpret or utilize design completion when drawing or design is unfinished
Identify any unique quality control provisions or safety requirements required for a project and incorporate related costs into bid
Ascertain any risks related to the estimate in order to guarantee that provisions are made for those risks
Ensure that estimates are complete, well-organized and ready for review before the given deadline
Coordinate with the field operations team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team
Follow awarded contracts, as assigned - may include estimating additional work items, change orders, procuring material, etc.
