Position Summary
The Director of Infrastructure and Project Management will oversee a team of staff responsible for the physical and technological infrastructure (including space, physical inventory, cybersecurity, network, software, hardware, and server infrastructure) of the Teaching and Learning Center and will directly provide high-level analysis, program and project management to the AVPTL and Instructional Design and Media Production (IDMP) unit. The position oversees 3 career FTEs with 1 indirect FTE, including directly supervising an Administrative Officer 2 CX, Educational Technical Supervisor 2, System Administration Supervisor 1, and indirectly Business Technical Support Analyst 2 TX, and requires the use of considerable independent initiative, analysis, facilitation, planning, judgment, as well as the ability to collaborate with others in a complex organization of approximately 50 employees, a budget in excess of $10 million, and spaces in the Young Research Library, multiple floors of the Powell Library, studios in Slichter Hall and the Center for Health Sciences (CHS). Performance of the incumbent's duties requires delegation to others and significant, active follow-up. In collaboration with and under the direction of the IDMP Director, the incumbent is responsible for developing and managing course and eLearning program production cycles for the IDMP unit. This includes building and implementing a system for tracking the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses and programs. Project/Program Management responsibilities consist of overseeing all administrative aspects of production execution, including creating and monitoring project timelines; monitoring handoffs between Instructional Designers and Studio Staff; coordinating with other staff (internal and external to the TLC) and organizations (including University of California Office of the President and other UC campuses); and processes supporting IDMP and TLC initiatives. Other responsibilities include conducting analysis, planning, customizing, and providing other critical leadership for implementation through completion of course design/redesign and grant (intramural and extramural) projects as needed. Collaborating with the Director of Administrative Operations and their staff, the Director of Infrastructure and Project Management coordinates the administrative and analytical aspects for IDMP advisory and governance committees as needed, directing and backing up analysts from the administrative team and serving as a committee resource professional. The role is responsible for collaborating to organize committee meetings, agenda coordination, and meeting minutes. It also represents IDMP team and committees as a liaison with academic leaders, senior administrative management, and other professional staff as needed. The position is responsible for supporting the IDMP director in developing and managing the process to measure the impact of IDMPs activities, in consultation with other units in the TLC. This includes evaluating software solutions, designing data collection processes, and developing new business practices that will provide analytics. The incumbent will also assist in the collection, analysis, and producing summaries of data to produce annual reports for the TLC. The incumbent will prepare analysis, documentation, reports, and presentations for the AVPTL, the IDMP Director, and the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning (VPTL) as needed; coordinate with unit heads in TLC departments on projects and regular business activities as needed; and perform other duties and coordinate events as assigned by the AVPTL, IDMP Director, and VPTL as needed.
