What You Will Do:

  • Apply engineering skills and experience to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost by planning and executing engineering projects while meeting project cost and schedule objectives
  • Support efforts to identify areas within the operations function where safety, quality, delivery, and cost may be improved
  • Support feasibility studies, determine manpower and cost estimates, and
  • Develop engineering criteria to plan projects and drive smaller projects from approval and execution to recognize objectives
  • Work with others to ensure projects conform to local, regional, national, and corporate safety, environmental, and other applicable standards.
  • Support technical efforts to develop and integrate manufacturing processes for new and significantly revised products.
  • Plant liaison with corporate R&D group, product marketing and corporate engineering.
  • Leads the implementation and tracking of all experimental product trials, and assists production in the start-up of new or modified units or processes including batch sheet instructions.
  • Leads assigned SPC teams, recommends and implements systems to optimize new or existing processes.
  • Develops with the assistance of production supervision and plant management, product standard costs, and monitors performance.
  • Troubleshoots process problems based on an understanding of plant processes and process chemistry.
  • Tracks production history and reports weekly/monthly volumes to plant management.
  • Investigates and reports plant upset condition summaries when applicable.
  • Develops and maintains recipes and master data for all products in SAP.
  • Supports and is committed to Nalco Ellwood City Plant safety, health, environmental, security, and quality principles.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 6+ months of experience in a chemical, food, or related manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies
  • No immigration sponsorship available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies
  • 2+ years of experience in a chemical, food, or related manufacturing environment
  • Master's Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • World Class Manufacturing and TPM experience
  • Strong proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional functional/technical skills including experience with reactors, mix tanks, pumps, piping configuration, valves, pressure relief apparatus, heat exchangers, filters and filtration
