Description

The National Security Sector of Leidos has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician V supporting our NATSC contract in Newport Rhode Island. Successful candidates will be the line supervisor for a specific product line of the Navy Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport. As such they will monitor activities on a repair or assembly line, observing work for efficient use of resources, adherence to work instructions and quality standards, and meeting production schedules. They will mentor and train junior technicians. The candidate, under the direction of the manager, will work and support the efforts of the specific product line.

Primary responsibilities of this position include assisting with forecasting repair line progress, make recommendations concerning line loading, and represent the line at regular production meetings. Evaluate drawings, work instructions, special procedures, other data sources in terms of adequacy, completeness, and applicability, and provides recommendations for correcting discovered discrepancies. Drafts work-around procedures, as appropriate, to maintain system readiness while formal recommendations are under consideration by the appropriate technical authority. Where no formal technical documentation exists on product line being tested and maintained, the technician drafts applicable procedures as inputs to formal published technical manuals. Performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project. Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates tests results and prepares reports on findings and recommendations. Contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work; reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of electronics repair relevant work experience or a related Technical School or Navy experience.

Experience supervising and training technicians in daily operations, procedures, and company policies.

Experience using CMPro document control system.

Experience using the NATSC Depot Application (NDA) and Towed Array Management System (TAMS).

Experience performing electronic repairs at the component level using repair procedures/techniques to document quality standards using formal work procedures and in accordance with documented quality standards.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret level clearance. Must have a minimum of a DOD Interim secret level clearance to start in this position.

Preferred Qualifications

List additional skills and experience that is “nice to have” but not required. 

Advanced degree from a Technical School a plus.

In-depth or working knowledge with Solid State Heading Sensors.

Documented completion of soldering training including SMT/SMD.

Operational knowledge and experience with industrial equipment including, but not limited to, sand blasting and PLC controlled equipment.

Familiar with standard computer operations and Microsoft Office and programming software.

Works independently with judgment, versatility, and initiative.

This role is covered by the Service Contract Act. This position will pay $35.87 per hour.
